Managing stress and overwhelm:
Single people have it so easy don't they? They don't need to manage a family and they don't need to manage their partners and themselves on top of it all. They only need to manage themselves.
Definitely not true. Especially if you are a single person who manages a business and is a home owner. Your business and your home are your children, and just like children if you don't discipline them with the right amount of care you're in and amongst a mess and you feel as though you are drowning.
It's even worse when personal development authors advertise your inner is your outer, because if you let "them" see the mess you're in clearly you're a mess internally also. Just like when mum's are afraid of going to the school yard in their dressing gown.
We all have mess. We are all embarrassed to show it because we are taught that if we are messy in any way that is a sign of what is going on with us internally.
I therefore write this Blog as someone who has been taking the unbelievable challenge of trying to re- start her business whilst managing a new home.
I quickly learnt that if I didn't keep things organised, I would be living in a mess I couldn't get out of and therefore I write this Blog in the hope it helps some others keeping organised.
You need to have things running like a well oiled ship as "they" say. As someone who has also been doing a lot of travelling, here are some ways I have learnt to take the burden off:
1/ THE TO DO LIST.
2/ DEDICATE WHICH DAYS YOU ARE GOING TO DO WHAT. Be gentle on yourself and realise depending on what needs doing, it's not all going to be done on the same day. No seriously, be kind to yourself. It's ok.... take a deep breath and understand you are not a bad person if you cannot get it all done in a day. What is bad is not taking the actions to get it done- like a TO DO list.
3/ ORGANISE THE CLOSETS.
4/ RECOGNISE YOUR USUAL DISTRACTIONS AND LIMIT THEM: Just for the amount of time you are getting through your to do list. It's ok, you will be able to Facebook as much as you want tomorrow. Just for today, limit it. It's ok... you will be able to spend all morning walking by the beach tomorrow. Just don't do it only for today. Make it your reward.
5/ AFFIRM: Decide and affirm you are easily getting through your TO DO list.
